OPPOSITION Leader Douglas Tomuriesa has claimed that the Government is yet to release all the 2025 funding it had allocated to MPs, departments and agencies in the national budget.

He told reporters yesterday that some government agencies were yet to receive funds due in the first quarter of the year.

He said only K1 million of the K10 million allocated for the District Service Improvement Programme (DSIP) had been received.

“Only K1 million of our DSIP has been received after five months out of the K10 million promised.

“K4 million should have been received by now.

“The Government must make these funds available so that we can serve the people,” Tomuriesa said.

He added that the Government and Prime Minister James Marape should explain to the nation the current state of the country’s economy.

“There seems to be a cash-flow crisis and a financial mismanagement of the country,” he said.

“Important services such as health, education, police and army are still waiting for the full allocation of funds from the Government.

“The people are waiting on an update about the current state of the economy and all funding shortfalls need to be addressed.”

He also called on Treasurer Ian Ling-Stuckey to “come out of hibernation” and address the financial issues affecting the country.

“The finances of this country are not in order and we all are waiting on the Government to tell us what is happening.

“This is a chaotic state of management of the country we are in right now.”
