Chairman's Remarks, KDDP Committee*

-Official statement released (08 Nov.2023) by the Chairman of the Kainantu District Development Planning Committee (KDDPC) in 2023.

To: Hon. William Hagahuno, LLB, MP, and Kainantu DDA Board Chairman
Cc: Kainantu DDA Board Members
Cc: Kainantu District Chief Executive Officer
Cc: Deputy Chairman, KDDP Committee, Dr. Zui Neofa
Cc: KDD Planning Committee

*Word of Appreciation and Acknowledgment*

Today, after 56 days since the launch of the Kainantu District 5-Year Development Plan (KDDP), I have the distinct privilege of addressing our Kainantu Member, Hon. William Hagahuno, LLB, and the beloved people of Kainantu District.

It is with profound gratitude and a deep sense of responsibility that I share these remarks.

Hon. William Hagahuno, your dedication to our district has guided our journey toward successfully delivering the district's 5-year development plan.
Your open-door policy inviting the intellectuals of Kainantu and leading the formation of the Kainantu District 5-Year Development Plan set the stage for the transformative changes envisioned for Kainantu.

On behalf of the Kainantu District Development Planning Committee, I extend heartfelt thanks for entrusting us with formulating the 5-year district development plan.

*My Planning Committee invested a collective intellectual property worth 311 plus years of professional experiences and expertise into creating a plan valued at K661,589,600 million.*

The plan itself carries an authentic sense of pride and weight, launched in Kainantu Town on September 14, 2023.

The journey was not easy but a rigorous process involving discussions, brainstorming, data collection, profiling, and actual drafting since the last quarter of 2022.
There were challenges as the Committee was called off twice ro progress with the development plan by the office of the Hon. MP. However, with perseverance, we convinced the good Hon. MP to allow us to continue for the district's development.

The KDDP Committee showcased unwavering intellectual strength for the resilient people of Kainantu, who are the heart and soul of our district.

The Hon. MP his open-door policy has been instrumental in making this dream a reality, and we are committed to realizing the goals set forth in this plan for the district's betterment.

As we embark on this journey towards a brighter future, let us remember that the challenges we face will only strengthen our resolve.

*Dissolving of KDDP Committee WhatsApp Forums*

1). K92 Member Project Group, and
2). 5YKDDP Review Project Committee - Temp.

We are officially dissolving the above two WhatsApp groups, intended for coordinating the Kainantu Intellectuals in the development of the 5-year district plan.
The KDDP Committee received advice from the Hon. MP's Office 9 days after the district plan's launch stating, "Once the project is delivered, that is the end of the partnership, which was voluntary. Dated Sept. 22nd, 2023."

The volunteering contribution from KDDP Committee ended on Sept. 14, 2023.

*Going forward*

1). The Kainantu District Authority (KDDA) Board may call upon the Planning Committee to review the district development plan after two years of its implementation to accommodate new developments and assess the plan's success in the last two years.

2). KDDA wishes to engage professionals in specific sectors, requiring a clear terms of reference for their services.

*Conclusion*

I extend my heartfelt appreciation to Hon. W. Hagahuno for his support and leadership, the Kainantu DDA Board, and the people of Kainantu for their trust and commitment.

I thank all the sons and daughters of Kainantu who contributed directly or indirectly to the formation of the development plan.

My special thanks to the unique District Development Planning Committee members; Dr. Zui Neofa, Dr. Moses Maire, Aibo Bebes, Dominic Afuyave, Nathan Maire, Philip Aratiso, Hanson Omega, Solomon Kaware, Douglas Keari, Janet Benabo, Tusa Yamagu, Jason Sirue, and Doddridge Nasira, who worked diligently towards the creation of the 5-year District Development Plan.

Together, we will create a Kainantu that we can all be proud of, a place of opportunity, growth, and prosperity.

Thank you, and may our efforts bring forth a better tomorrow for Kainantu.

*God Bless the People of Kainantu and the Eastern Highlands.*
